Joan hails from West Ireland and found herself a home from home when she moved to Wales in 2016. Having worked in South Wales for the past 9 years, Joan made the exciting move to join the Seren team in January 2025. She has a passion for small animal dermatology, having completed a Post-graduate and Advanced Practitioner Certificate, and is now working towards achieving Advanced Practitioner status in the field of dermatology.

At home Joan enjoys time with her family, exploring the countryside with her two Irish Setters and Connemara pony, and reading a good book if she can find the time!

Katy graduated from The Royal Veterinary College in 2019 and worked in small animal practice in Oxfordshire and London for several years before relocating to Wales in July 2024 with her husband.

Katy joined Seren Vets soon after her move to Carmarthenshire. She enjoys all aspects of general practice with a particular interest in small animal medicine.

In her spare time Katy enjoys getting out on the hills with her Springer Spaniel, Winnie, who is always keen for the next hiking adventure.

Ana, originally from Portugal, moved to the UK after graduation in 2008 to work in a small animal practice in the Midlands. Missing the coastal lifestyle, she moved to Wales in 2015. After working in other local practices, she joined the Seren Vets family in 2023. She is particularly interested in feline medicine and soft tissue surgery and has a certificate in Internal Medicine.

On her time off, you can find her exploring the coast and the Brecons with her labrador Angus, or drinking copious amounts of coffee with her cat Ramen.

Born in Ceredigion, Nia graduated from Liverpool University in 2013 and moved back to settle in Carmarthenshire.  After initially starting in mixed practice, Nia decided to focus on small animal work and has worked in a variety of local practices since.  She particularly enjoys surgery and looking after the emergency patients and has obtained her certificate in Emergency Critical Care.

Nia has a lurcher who has been with her since just after graduation, and a cat who arrived a year later as a stray at work.  Nia enjoys cooking and dog walking with her husband and 1 year old daughter.  Before having her daughter, Nia enjoyed travelling, but is now kept busy at home.  If you don’t see Nia working or walking, you’ll see her drinking tea!

Hailing originally from the North West, Katy graduated from the RVC in the same year as Jo, then relocated to South Wales and has worked as a small animal vet here for many years since. After nearly a decade at a large practice in Swansea, she spent the last few years before Seren working as a locum in the local area.

Katy has always liked most aspects of small animal clinical work, particularly medicine, cardiology, dermatology and older pet care, but has also enjoyed taking on the new challenge of veterinary business and all that it entails. In her spare time she loves travel, baking (or more often just eating) cakes, reading, music, and spending time in the great Welsh outdoors with her dogs. She and Kevin share three dogs and a tortoise who is over 80 years old.

Prior to Seren Vets, Kevin worked as a GP vet in mixed practice, where his patients included horses, farm animals and domestic pets, as well as a variety of wildlife, exotic and zoo animals.

Kevin was awarded a Distinction in his Veterinary Medicine degree from Liverpool University and has also completed a Master’s degree in Veterinary Conservation Medicine and a Bachelor’s degree in Zoology. He is recognised as an Advanced Practitioner in Zoological Medicine by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) and has achieved an RCVS Certificate in Zoological Medicine.

In addition to treating patients at our clinics, Kevin is available for visits (booked in advance) and provides veterinary care for more unusual animals including deer herds, camelids and some zoo collections.

Jo graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2008. After a stint in mixed practice, she decided to focus on small animals. Jo particularly enjoys small animal medicine.

Outside work Jo is kept busy with her husband, two children, dogs, sheep and pony on their smallholding. To unwind she can often be found on early morning runs with her Labrador.
