Natalie Small

Natalie joined our reception team in mid-2024, having worked for Burns Pet Nutrition for over a decade, and in pet-related retail and livery stables prior to that. More recently she has been helping to run the pet shop next door to Seren, so may already be a familiar face to many. Natalie has always had a keen interest in the veterinary side of the animal world and is enjoying transitioning into her new role.

In her spare time, she enjoys long walks with her chocolate labrador Rupert and riding her horse Rocco.

Alys Theophilus

Alys joined Seren in April 2024, having been a Registered Veterinary Nurse since January 2023. Prior to deciding to become a Veterinary Nurse, she spent 6 years in the British Army with the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery in London. Alys has a particular interest in the surgical side of nursing and in patient care, and she is also enjoying gaining more experience with the different species we see at Seren.

Outside work, Alys enjoys walking her dogs Elvis, Maggie and Winnie, and spending time with her family and friends.

Ffion James

Ffion is the youngest member of our team, having just left school. It has always been her dream to become a Veterinary Nurse and she hopes to work towards this. Ffion comes from a farming family and lives on a dairy and beef farm. She has always enjoyed helping her dad out on the farm and was inspired by him to choose her career.

Ffion has a much-loved little Jack Russell, Cara, and two other dogs at home, Bryn and Wilf, who are partners in crime. Ffion enjoys walks in the countryside and spending time with her family and friends.

Laura Edwards

Laura has previous experience of working as a Veterinary Receptionist in a local practice and came to join Seren Vets in 2023 as a Veterinary Nurse Assistant (though you may sometimes see her helping out on reception). Laura is looking forward to starting to train as a Veterinary Nurse. She has always loved being around animals and is enjoying the opportunity to learn about some of the more exotic animals and wildlife that we see at Seren.

Laura has two dogs of her own, Bella the beagle and Monty the cocker spaniel. Beach walks are her favourite (and she sometimes manages to drag her two sons along too!)

Arabella Birkett

Arabella joined the team in August 2023, after previously working as a 999 call handler with Rebecca. Arabella grew up on a farm and loves being outdoors with her dogs Henry and Victor. When she is not at Seren Vets, Arabella is using her other talents as a wedding florist, travelling all over Wales to set up floral arrangements at weddings.

Dr. Ana Santos

Ana, originally from Portugal, moved to the UK after graduation in 2008 to work in a small animal practice in the Midlands. Missing the coastal lifestyle, she moved to Wales in 2015. After working in other local practices, she joined the Seren Vets family in 2023. She is particularly interested in feline medicine and soft tissue surgery and has a certificate in Internal Medicine.

On her time off, you can find her exploring the coast and the Brecons with her labrador Angus, or drinking copious amounts of coffee with her cat Ramen.

Dr. Nia Williams

Born in Ceredigion, Nia graduated from Liverpool University in 2013 and moved back to settle in Carmarthenshire.  After initially starting in mixed practice, Nia decided to focus on small animal work and has worked in a variety of local practices since.  She particularly enjoys surgery and looking after the emergency patients and has obtained her certificate in Emergency Critical Care.

Nia has a lurcher who has been with her since just after graduation, and a cat who arrived a year later as a stray at work.  Nia enjoys cooking and dog walking with her husband and 1 year old daughter.  Before having her daughter, Nia enjoyed travelling, but is now kept busy at home.  If you don’t see Nia working or walking, you’ll see her drinking tea!

We look forward to meeting you and your wonderful pets soon!

Linda Brown

Linda may be a familiar face to many of you, having worked as a Veterinary Receptionist at various practices in the local area for many years since moving down to Wales from Scotland in 2009. She was brought up on a farm and now has her own with her partner, where she keeps beef cattle, sheep and horses, all passions of hers since being a child.

Her other passion is her dogs. Linda enjoys all aspects of working with animals, large and small, and has dedicated her life to them.
